Jatayu Earth's Center, located in Chadayamangalam within the limits of the Chadayamangalam Grama Panchayat in Kollam district, is world-famous as the world's largest bird sculpture. It is a destination where natural beauty, mythology, and state-of-the-art architecture come together.
Key Features
World's Largest Bird Sculpture: Measuring 200 feet long, 150 feet wide, and 70 feet high, this masterpiece was designed by the renowned sculptor Rajiv Anchal.
Mythology: It is believed that this is the very rock where Jatayu fell with his wings clipped while trying to stop Ravana as he was abducting Goddess Sita.
Cable Car (Ropeway): A modern cable car facility is available to reach the top of the rock, offering an exceptionally beautiful view from the summit.
Adventure Park: For adventure enthusiasts, activities such as paintball, trekking, rock climbing, and ziplining are arranged here.
Heli-Tourism: Helicopter rides are also available here to view the Jatayu sculpture and its surroundings from the air.
Visitor Information
Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Adventure Park timings may vary).
Location: Chadayamangalam is situated on the M.C. Road, between Thiruvananthapuram and Kottarakkara.
Tickets: Booking tickets online in advance is highly recommended for convenience.
Another unique highlight of this tourist destination is that it has been constructed while completely preserving the natural state of the rock without harming nature.
Main Attractions
Jatayu Sculpture: A museum and a 6D theater have been set up inside the bird sculpture (though these are not currently fully open to visitors, the sculpture can be viewed from the outside).
Ropeway: Visitors can travel from the base to the hilltop where the sculpture stands via cable car. This is highly convenient for senior citizens and children.
Walkway: One can also climb the hill to reach the top by walking along a paved stone path extending about one kilometer. This option is ideal for those who wish to enjoy the scenic natural beauty.
